Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) are a group of man-made chemicals that includes PFOA, PFOS, GenX, and many other chemicals. PFAs have been manufactured and used in a variety of industries around the globe, including in the United States since the 1940s. PFOA and PFOS have been the most extensively produced and studied of these chemicals. Both are very persistent in the environment and in the human body, meaning they do not break down and can accumulate over time. There is evidence that exposure to PFAs can lead to adverse human health effects.
Currently the EPA is committed to supporting states, tribes, and local communities in addressing challenges with PFAS. As a part of this effort, EPA is taking action to identify solutions to address PFAs in the environment.
Pumps of Oklahoma’s groundwater sampling and remediation pumps consist of robust stainless steel rotating parts with Teflon and Viton elastomers which provide excellent abrasion protection and superior chemical resistance from petroleum hydrocarbons, solvents, and landfill contaminants found in groundwater sampling events.
PFAS Sampling and remediation Pumps
Most groundwater sampling and remediation pumps with Teflon and Viton elastomers cannot be used in PFAS sampling as both the Teflon and Viton do contain PFAS substances. However, Pumps of Oklahoma has sampling and remediation pumps that do not contain any PFAS substances and are constructed from robust stainless steel and a variety of inert elastomers and plastics that are safe for monitoring PFAS found in groundwater.
Please contact Pumps of Oklahoma for your options on PFAS groundwater sampling pumps.
